Q of the W (Question of the week)
Students: So many of you turned in a response for Q of the W but you did not have the proper heading on it. There are two reasons I want you to use the MLA heading...1) so you get used to using it 2) it helps me when I have to pass back your responses.
Please remember to use the MLA heading!
Also you do not need to rewrite the question- if you want to you can but you don't have to.
With that being said I hope you all get a chance to answer Q of the W this week- there are two this time! Good luck!
A blog created for classroom use. This blog will inform students, parents, and community members about my classroom. It includes homework assignments, updates on what the students are learning, classroom news, links to websites approved by me, and information about myself and the educational goals I have for my students and myself.

Post 2: Discover Your Learning Style
Goal: I think it is very important for students to discover how they learn best. Sometimes when we learn we are unaware of what we are doing, we are not thinking about thinking (meta-cognition). I feel that in order to help students to reach their maximum potential I first need to help them understand which learning style they best identify with. Once we figure that out I will provide study suggestions and tips for each type of learning style.
Background Information: There are three different learning styles- Auditory, Visual, and Kinesthetic.
Assignment: Visit this webpage and take the "What's your learning style" self-assessment. After taking the assessment your results will be shown. Record your learning style on your handout given in class. View the given tips for your learning style on the website and on the classroom bulletin board. Answer the questions on the handout and turn it in to Mrs. A.
Remember that there is no guarantee that your given learning style is really the best way for you to learn. Your result is given based on how you answer the questions. Suggestions are given but might not apply or work for you. You may benefit from identifying with a specific learning style.
***Note: 7th grade social studies classes you only have to do questions 1-4 for homework on the handout given to you in class. On Wednesday you will have class time to do 5 and 6. If you want you can complete 5 and 6 before Wednesday's class.

Post 1: Who is Mrs. A?
About Me
My name is Mrs. Alexsonshk (Alex-onch) or you can call me Mrs. A. I am currently a student teacher in Mr. Margletta's classroom. This December I hope to graduate from Ohio University with my Bachelor's Degree in Middle Childhood Science and Social Studies Education.
My educational philosophy is:
-help the student understand how they best learn then design lessons to foster their learning style and provide individualized study tips
-use students prior knowledge as a foundation for lessons
-allow the students to have an active role in the classroom by encouraging participation, cooperative learning, and a democratic atmosphere
-understand the students (likes, dislikes, interests, diversity) in order to make meaningful lessons and activities
-create a positive and safe learning environment
I grew up in Fairview Park, Ohio and moved to Kent for my freshman year of college at Kent State University. I then I moved to New Concord, Ohio to be closer to my husband. I completed the rest of my college career at Ohio University.
I currently reside in New Philadelphia with my husband and 4 month old son. I love gardening, cooking, photography, and spending time with my family.
My goals for this semester are:
-to know all my students by name (hopefully by the end of the second week of school)
-to make learning interesting, enriching, and fun
-to create a safe learning environment (especially when doing labs in science class)
-to utilize technology when teaching
-to create some awesome classroom bulletin boards (which I will post here on my blog)
I am really looking forward to a great semester!
-Mrs. A
